Custom Wedding Stationery of Wispy Calligraphy, Warm Tones & touch of Gold Foil
behind custom wedding stationery
Willow and Jackson have that forever kind of love. The kind of love when you look into the eyes of each other, and see right into their soul, to see the real you. Being their true selves, living their authentic selves. They love each other for being them and nothing more.
This is the love story behind the stationery for this magical wedding inspiration shoot.
When I was sent the mood boards for this shoot from Rebecca of Ivy Pipe & Rose, I was so excited by the earthy tones and the elegant touches. With mood boards I can see the couples style, wedding day colours, textures, and also places they feel most close to. The one thing I can’t see is personality, and this to me is where my process of creating custom stationery begins, straight from you. I would normally ask a few questions to get to know you over FaceTime and a coffee. These days it’s more virtual connections, but I appreciate and love every connection.
The wedding venue
The wedding venue was The Giraffe Shed in Tregynon, Central Wales. It’s a converted barn, painted black on the outside, part brick, part wooden beams. The venue has floor to ceiling windows that bring in so much light, but also allows the outside to come in. From first seeing the venue, I knew I wanted to incorporate it within the stationery.

ILLUSTRATED, DECKED EDGED, CALLIGRAPHY, EARTHY, CRYSTAL BOUND CUSTOM WEDDING STATIONERY
Telling stories through stationery is where my main focus and inspiration comes from. This beautiful wedding shoot day took place in South Wales, surrounded by lands of green, fields, and forests filled with trees. Knowing the colour pallet of the flowers and the wedding table decor, lead me to certain colours and texture choices when it came to choosing the card. This ended up being a collection of a transparent card, watercolour of soft tones, stone and sand coloured toned card, and deckled ripped edges.
A couple with dreams, dreamers of life, love and travels needed a Save the Date that captured part of them. I created the Save the Dates in a non-traditional shape. A roughly cut circle, representing the night’s sky filled with stars and gold foil. My wispy hand-illustrated calligraphy was used to bring a sense of freedom, and the joining of each of the colour cards brought the warmth to the stationery. Adding in details of a map with an illustration of the wedding venue, a crystal threaded with gold twine, to hold the stationery together, and a quote with an illustration of the moon and stars for each guest, made this custom invitation so much more special, forming a gift, a memento to family and friends.
the flowers
These beautiful flowers were created by Rebecca of Ivy Pip & Rose. She has a beautiful vision and a way with flowers. Rebeccas flowers always speak an emotion to me. They say love, togetherness, warmth and forever-ness.
Rebeccas mood boards had a combination of earthy colours and textures that she brought through to her flower choices. The wispy branches of white delicate flowers surrounding gorgeous earthy coloured Butterfly Ranunculus and David Austin roses. The pop of colour from the Kangaroo Claw were my absolute favourite! They have a beautiful warm orange tone with a velvet texture. Absolutely gorgeous!
ON-THE-DAY-SATIONERY
On-the-day wedding stationery was an extension of the wedding invitation. The menus, place names and escort cards all used the same earthy tones, with deckled ripped edges, hanging crystals, transparent card moons and gold accents. Bringing the warmth and elegance together.
The escort cards were a combination of transparent card with gold illustrated moon and stars, and a sandy toned card with hand illustrated calligraphy of each guess name and table number. this was then all tied together with gold twine, and a white crystal with a gold painted top.
The escort cards were then hung within Ivy Pip & Rose’s flowers.
